My oven stoves are based on another vintage French design, and it works beautifully. Putting the oven over the fire neatly avoids the uneven heating associated with range stoves while allowing a bigger oven in the same space. Placing the flue exit at the front rather than the back, whilst looking unconventional, means that the whole of the hotplate gets properly heated, so can be utilised for cooking, while oven temperature is controlled by the adjustable damper.

My customers tell me that they have used these stoves to cook everything from casseroles to pizzas, from baked potatoes to full English breakfasts or even a Sunday roast! They are also brilliant for baking bread and I can personally confirm that they can produce excellent cinnamon swirls!
